DIRECTOR PROFILE: Virginia Witts

Virginia lives in Windhoek, Namibia. She began her Media career 23 years ago, as an English Radio Producer & Presenter for the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation.

For the last 12 years, she’s been working in Television production and has had the opportunity to Script, Produce, Direct and Present many different Genres, as diverse as Game Shows and Dramas to Documentaries.

Virginia’s passion is children’s and youth programming and she has served on many Judging Panels Internationally, including the prestigious Japan Prize. Currently, she is involved in the planning of Africa’s participation in the next World Summit for Children’s Media in Sweden in 2010.

Virginia has won several Awards for her Television Productions including an International Emmy Award for a live 9 hour broadcast, and subsequently a further two Emmy nominations.

Most recently, in April 2008, her HIV/AIDS Drama, Remember Eliphas 2, won 5 Awards, including Best Film at the Wild Cinema international Film Festival in Windhoek, Namibia.
