A story of bravery, courage and daring… about a small group of people determined to bring elephants back to Angola.
New Beginning follows the dramatic wildlife relocation project to relocate elephants to Angola’s Kissama National Park. The story begins hundreds of perilous miles away in Botswana, where a small family of elephants are earmarked as the pioneers who will begin the rehabilitation of Angola’s wildlife after its destruction as a result of a ravaging 30 year civil war. Many of the local communities living around the park have never even seen an elephant before.
We follow the capture of the elephants and their journey by road and Russian freight plane to Angola and finally their release. This is a risky project for both the elephants and their minders.
When a young bull, Big Boy, gets stuck in his crate, the whole operation’s success may be jeopardized – will he succumb or make it against the odds?
The outcome had a huge impact and profound healing effect on the people that were involved in this unique project.
